Point in Time

The IA BoS CoC will plan on conducting, at least biennially, a point-in-time count of homeless persons within the geographic area that meets the following requirements:

  • Homeless persons who are living in a place not designed or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for humans must be counted as unsheltered homeless persons.

  • Persons living in emergency shelters and transitional housing projects must be counted as sheltered homeless persons.

  • Annual Housing Inventory Count.

  • Other requirements established by HUD by Notice.

Historically the PIT Count falls on the last Wednesday of January.

We respectively request any volunteer document their donated time with the Continuum of Care during the Point In Time to assist in showing the match our CoC is investing into this work. The CoC Director, Courtney Guntly will request these documents from the Coordinated Service Regions, if applicable. If you have any questions please reach out to Courtney Guntly.
