Matching for Appropriate Placement (MAP) Assessment Tool Training

As part of the upcoming rollout of the Matching for Appropriate Placement (MAP) Assessment Tool on January 1, 2026, all staff who conduct Coordinated Entry (CE) intakes and assessments—whether online or on paper—are required to complete training on how to administer the new assessment with clients.

Please note that this requirement applies only to agencies within the Iowa Balance of State Continuum of Care and does not impact Polk, Pottawattamie, or Woodbury Counties.

Click here to register for this event.

This training provides an overview and hands-on practice for using the Matching for Appropriate Placement (MAP) Tool, designed to help staff make informed, person-centered housing referrals within the Coordinated Entry System.

The session will cover:

  • The purpose and goals of the MAP Tool within Coordinated Entry.

  • Step-by-step guidance for completing the tool and documenting placement decisions.

  • Best practices for collaboration, transparency, and maintaining participant choice.

This training is required for all staff conducting Coordinated Entry Intakes and Assessments with clients in the Iowa Balance of State Continuum of Care.

Certificates of completion will be emailed out to those in attendance.  To ensure you receive a certificate, please join on your own device, rather than have multiple staff view the training together.

Multiple sessions will be offered of the same training, and staff only need to attend one session.
