Purpose and Responsibilities
The Strategic Data Task Group supports the Iowa Balance of State CoC and Board by using data, system performance, and strategic analysis to guide decision-making and advance progress toward preventing and ending homelessness across the Balance of State.
The Strategic Data Task Group supports the CoC Board in fulfilling its responsibilities related to mission, vision, strategic direction, and system performance. Specific responsibilities include:
Review and analyze CoC, project-level, and system data, including HMIS data, to assess progress toward ending homelessness.
Review , discuss, and develop strategies related to CoC System Performance Measures (SPMs) and other key outcome metrics.
Review federal and HUD-required reports to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to improve system outcomes and make recommendations to the board based on these findings.
Recommend performance metrics and evaluation criteria for the local CoC Grant Competition.
Make strategic recommendations to the CoC board that are data and solution-driven.
Identify critical strategic issues facing the CoC and assist in the analysis and recommendation to the CoC Board of alternative strategies and solutions.
Stay informed on HUD rules and guidance, local data trends, Balance of State needs, and best practices to make recommendations intended to improve the effectiveness, quality, and cost-efficiency of homeless response services.
Periodically review the CoC’s mission, vision, and strategic plan and recommend updates based on changing community needs and system performance.
Review strategic plans, new programs, or major initiatives of similar CoC’s to ensure alignment with best practices in the IA BoS CoC’s overall strategic direction and goals.
